Mission Ridge honored for Tourism Impact in Wenatchee Valley

Posted

WENATCHEE — Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort was recognized for its role in the regional economy and community life on April 16, receiving the Tourism Impact Award from the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The award was presented during the Chamber’s annual celebration, which brought together hundreds of business, nonprofit and community leaders from across the valley at the newly-renovated Wenatchee Convention Center.

For Mission Ridge, the recognition reflects a balance the resort has worked to maintain for decades, serving both as a local gathering place and a destination that draws visitors into the Wenatchee Valley.

Nearly one-third of visits to the mountain come from guests traveling from outside the immediate area, contributing an estimated $5 million annually in spending on lodging, dining and other local businesses. At the same time, local residents continue to make up the majority of visits, reinforcing the resort’s role as a consistent presence in the community.

“This recognition from our own community means a great deal to all of us,” said Tony Hickok, chief marketing officer at Mission Ridge. “It reflects the work of our entire team and the continued support of the Wenatchee Valley community that has been part of this mountain’s story for nearly 60 years.”

That dual role was tested during the 2025–2026 season, one of the most challenging snowfall years on record.

Resort teams relied on snowmaking, grooming and surface management to keep terrain open and maintain a consistent experience for visitors despite limited natural snow.

“That effort is a direct reflection of our team,” Hickok said. “From early mornings to late nights, their commitment to the guest experience never wavers. This award belongs to them, and to the community that continues to support this place year after year.”

The Tourism Impact Award recognizes organizations that contribute not only to visitor numbers, but to the broader economic and social fabric of the region.

For Mission Ridge, that impact continues to play out both on the mountain and in the businesses and communities that surround it.
