Doyle Eugene "Gene" Starcher

Posted

Doyle Eugene “Gene” Starcher was born to Doyle and Thela Starcher on August 8th, 1939 and died peacefully on September 21st, 2026.

Many in Chelan remember him as the jeweler, alongside his longtime business partner April Monday, at Goldsmith Lucerne. He was almost always joking, whistling, singing, and making a crazy face. He was incredibly generous with his time and spirit. He was someone you could count on when you were in a dark time, or when you needed an extra hand on a project. He loved to laugh and he loved his kids more than anything. He had an ear for great music, an appreciation for cinema, and loved to spend hours sitting by a campfire. He was a person who went the extra mile to add delight to the world. He was still laughing and telling us how much he loved us in his final days. He had one of the most adventurous lives I’ve ever heard of, and leaves a legacy of laughter and love.

He is survived by his four children, Oro, Bren, Hanna, Molly, their mother Julie, two granddaughters, Sophia and Donna, and his niece Kirsten.
