Confluence Health names Dr. Katie Peterson chief medical officer

WENATCHEE — Confluence Health has named Dr. Katie Peterson as its new chief medical officer, filling the position following the appointment of former CMO Dr. James Murray to the organization's newly created chief physician executive role.

Peterson, an OB/GYN physician, most recently served in leadership positions focused on value-based care and population health. In her new role, she will oversee medical staff leadership, quality and safety initiatives, and work alongside executive and operational leaders to support patient care across North Central Washington.

According to Confluence Health, Murray's transition to chief physician executive reflects an expanded emphasis on physician leadership in clinical operations and service-line performance, while Peterson will assume responsibility for guiding medical staff and helping lead the organization's ongoing quality and patient safety efforts.

Confluence Health CEO Dr. Andrew Jones said Peterson has earned the respect of colleagues throughout the organization and praised her collaborative leadership style.

"She has earned the respect of colleagues across our organization and has shown a clear commitment to collaboration, quality, and doing what is right for patients," Jones said. "I'm confident she will serve our physicians, care teams, and community exceptionally well as CMO."

Dr. Jennifer Jorgensen, president of Wenatchee Valley Medical Group, said Peterson's experience caring for patients and leading physicians makes her well suited for the position.

"With her years of experience in leadership and as a valued colleague, she brings credibility, insight, and a genuine commitment to improving care for our community," Jorgensen said.

Peterson succeeds Murray as Confluence Health continues to reshape its physician leadership structure, with the chief medical officer and chief physician executive positions now serving distinct roles within the organization.

Peterson assumes the position effective immediately.
