AgForestry Leadership Program Accepting Applications

Posted

Applications are now being accepted for AgForestry Leadership Class 43. Each year, up to 24 people are selected for the 18-month program, which consists of 11 multi-day seminars throughout Washington State, one week diving into National Government in Washington D.C. and up to two weeks exploring Trade, Culture and Government in a selected foreign country. The seminars cover Communications, Group Dynamics and Public Speaking, Working with the Media, Social Services, State Government, Forestry, Agriculture, the Columbia River System, Crime and Corrections and Transportation.

More than 1,100 leaders in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and natural resources have experienced the leadership development program since it began in 1978. Notable graduates include U.S. Forest Service Chief Vicki Christiansen, U.S. Congressman Daniel Newhouse, State Representatives Ed Orcutt and Joe Schmick, State Senators Linda Evans and Mark Schoesler and countless graduates serving on county commissions, mayoral positions, PUD and Port commissions and local, regional and national advisory councils.

The highly competitive selection process will culminate in October with the first leadership seminar in Pullman, where class members learn about Leadership and Communications at Washington State University.

Application for AgForestry Class 43 are accepted through April 30 at agforestry.org/candidates.
