Wenatchee Valley College's ESRT program secures renewed career launch endorsement

The Environmental Systems and Refrigeration Technology (ESRT) program at Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) has achieved a significant milestone by securing a renewed Career Launch endorsement from Career Connect Washington. This endorsement underscores the program's dedication to integrating hands-on job experiences with comprehensive classroom education.

Career Launch programs, as defined by Career Connect Washington, are unique in their approach. They blend in-depth, practical, on-the-job training with traditional academic learning. Such programs are instrumental in preparing candidates for immediate employment and meeting work-based learning prerequisites for various four-year degree courses.

“With this endorsement renewal, ESRT has demonstrated a continued commitment to getting students on-the-job experiences in a field that is in high demand,” said Yuritzi

 Lozano, WVC Dean of Allied Health and Professional Technical Programs. 

The ESRT program at WVC offers an Associate of Technical Science degree and two specialized certificates: Basic HVACR and Controls and Commercial/Industrial HVACR and DDC Controls. The curriculum is meticulously designed to prepare graduates for a spectrum of entry-level positions, including service technicians, maintenance personnel, application engineers, and environmental systems designers.

WVC proudly hosts six other programs with the Career Launch endorsement, including automotive technology, computer technician-help desk/IT support, drafting, machining technology, industrial technology-electronics, and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Technology.

Career Connect Washington, comprising a coalition of business, labor, education, and community leaders, plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between employers and educators. Through its initiatives, CCW fosters the creation of academic and work-based programs that offer young individuals opportunities for career exploration, skill acquisition, and the potential to earn money or college-level credits. This collaborative effort is instrumental in shaping a skilled workforce aligned with the dynamic needs of Washington's industries.
