WENATCHEE - A Wenatchee man has been arrested and charged with first-degree arson and a felony violation of a no-contact order after allegedly setting fire to a camping trailer on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison, deputies responded to a report of arson in the 10 block of Cloud Cap Lane in Wenatchee at approximately 3:39 pm on April 16. The victim reported that 47-year-old Cory Presby of Wenatchee had set fire to a camping trailer before fleeing on foot into the nearby mountains.

Deputies and fire crews arrived to find the camping trailer engulfed in flames. The area was searched using a drone and the Chelan County Sheriff's helicopter, but Presby was not immediately located.

Later that evening, at around 9:30 pm, Presby called RiverCom Dispatch, reporting that he had become lost in the mountains and was suffering from the cold as temperatures dropped and winds picked up. Deputies were able to locate Presby on the deck of a new construction site approximately three-quarters of a mile from the location of the arson.

Presby was provided with medical aid and transported to the Chelan County Jail, where he was provided warmth and shelter. He has been charged with first-degree arson and a felony violation of a no-contact order.
