WENATCHEE — From repairing broken items to rethinking transportation options, local experts will share practical ways to live more sustainably during Sustainable NCW’s “Green as a Verb” discussion on Nov. 12.
Sustainable NCW describes “green” as a way of life committed to caring for the environment; there are as many shades of green as there are ways to incorporate sustainability into everyday life. These actions can be implemented in homes, classrooms and workplaces, and in the decisions made on the road and in the store.
The event will facilitate thoughtful discussion through a panel of advocates and experts, covering everyday actions such as commuting with a bike, sourcing food locally, and repairing items instead of replacing. It will also dive into the ways in which sustainability intertwines with community and accessibility, and how to vocalize values with decision makers.
The panel will feature bike riding “aficionado” Connor Barrows, organic farmer Bed Stansbery, repair specialist Larry Selden, and environmental justice advocate Tona Chacon. The discussion will be led by community connector and storyteller Gerardo Perez-Guerrero.
The “Green as a Verb” discussion starts at 7 p.m. at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with an opportunity to talk with panelists and tabling nonprofits prior to the discussion. The event will include simultaneous Spanish interpretation via headsets for Spanish-speaking attendees. Light refreshments will also be available.
The community event is free, but donations are appreciated. More information can be found by visiting sustainablencw.org.
