CASHMERE—As Summer continues well underway in the NCW, the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce is beginning preparations for its annual Autumn Auction and Recognition Dinner, calling for sponsorships, donations, and nominations from the community.

The Autumn Auction and Recognition Dinner is a long-held local event centered around fostering community connections and raising funds for the promotion of Cashmere and its residents. With the aim of bolstering the community’s economic vitality, the event includes both a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses as well as a recognition dinner celebrating the local efforts of Cashmere residents.

Each year, the Recognition Dinner celebrates three community nominated categories: citizen, business, and organization of the year. The winners of these three categories are decided through public nominations submitted either online or in-person at one of the many nomination boxes located at Cashmere businesses including That Pizza Place, Doanes, The Crow, the Public Library, and Martin's Market.

Community members are encouraged to participate in this traditional Cashmere community event through a range of different options.

Local business owners have the opportunity to make donations of merchandise and gift certificates for the silent auction, generating publicity for their businesses while giving back to the community.

Participants can also sponsor a table at the event, and receive extra tickets, a stronger presence at the dinner, and public acknowledgment for their local support.

Cashmere residents are also encouraged to make their choices for who they believe best deserves the titles of citizen, business, and organization of the year.

The nomination boxes are easily identified by their bright yellow color and attached fliers urging locals to ‘vote today.’ Each box also features the names of previous nominees, going back to 1978 with their earliest Citizen of the Year recipient, Robbie Robinson, a perfect illustration of the event’s longstanding history in Cashmere.

For those who would rather vote digitally, a QR code is posted on the side of each nomination box and on the window of the Chamber of Commerce’s 103 Cottage Avenue location. Scanning the QR code with a smartphone camera sends participants to an interactive Google Doc, allowing them to make their nominations in a simplified digital format.

The nomination period for the Recognition Dinner ends on August 31, meaning that Cashmere residents should vote as soon as possible to ensure their choices receive the support they deserve.

With its community centered Autumn Auction and Recognition Dinner, the Cashmere Chamber of Commerce hopes to link the town together, connecting businesses and residents in the local area under one united goal of fostering financial stability in the Cashmere region. To help support this important cause, be sure to cast your nominations by August 31, and to make any auction donations or table sponsorships by September 1.
