PUD Commissioner

Please let me make this perfectly clear, I don't want a PUD Commissioner who does not understand the true purpose of a stakeholder elected governing board. Further, I am not enthralled with a candidate for this position who thinks that team building is an appropriately relevant approach for independently elected board members to pursue. By the same token I am not infatuated by a candidate who brings a follow the herd mentality to an independently elected board and who describes a primary motivation for running as having additional time on his hands. The Chelan County PUD is a multi-billion dollar asset that should be viewed as nearly priceless for the owner/ratepayers of this area. Carnan Bergren for whatever reason believes that his vision is superior to that of the current incumbent; Ouch! Not even close Carnan, on that count.

If Mr. Bergren had any sense of business history he would know of Frank Lorenzo, Carl Icahn and T. Boone Pickens; Bergren is no Pickens, Icahn, or Lorenzo! If Carnan wasn't so naïve he would know that these so called corporate raiders who purportedly preyed upon corporate boards, actually helped to increase the overall efficiencies and value of said organizations; boards previously governed by inexperienced Carnan types; These maverick board members brought uniquely different perspectives to those boards they intruded upon. What Carnan would never be able to conclude is that these three no-nonsense businessmen enhanced the wealth for millions of shareholders by fighting against the same silly lack of experience that he, Carnan, hopes to bring to our PUD board with his similar/same perspective. I don't care how many boards he has served on and I personally do not care how much experience he claims. I am saying that his overall experience is just plain the wrong kind and at the wrong level to make me feel comfortable entrusting him with a voting voice on the Chelan PUD Board.

Finally, if stupidity and ignorance with respect to board governance and decision making were illegal then Carnan's PUD mentor, former PUD Commissioner, Bob Boyd would be serving a life sentence. If you want more of the same silly missteps with little or no board discussion due to a single perspective, then by all means, be my guest. If I offend your sensibilities then I accept that; they needed offending. This election is not about personalities. Rather this election should be about sensibilities and specific abilities. I am quite familiar with Carnan and many of his supporters and albeit they are interesting people, on this issue they appear to be intellectually AWOL as to what this board honestly needs at this time. You will decide this issue, I only hope that part of your consideration includes reflecting on the potential consequences down the road when this duly elected board has no limiting perspective as it erupts into a groundswell of outrageous activity at your expense. If you deem this election unimportant, please check your PUD statements one last time before you commit to such a dangerous leap.
