Stay Home, Stay Healthy, choose not to burn this year

UNION GAP - The Department of Ecology asks you to be a good neighbor

and not burn this spring. Burning yard waste is illegal in Urban Growth Areas, can lead to wildfires, and creates smoke that makes it hard to

breathe. Let’s help our first responders and health workers – don’t

make more work for them during the COVID-19 crisis.

Instead, you can chip or compost to make mulch for your garden or

landscaping. Or, if you are able, participate in community yard waste

collection programs. Visit our website ecology.wa.gov for more information

on alternatives to burning.
