All library North Central Regional Library services ending as of March 25

Posted
A message for Executive Director Barbara Walters:

NCW - From the start of the COVID-19 crisis, we have done our best to make decisions that ensure the safety of our staff and the health of our communities. We have followed the advice of our state government as well as state and local health officials, working proactively to plan for what could come next.

Our state is now strongly urging every member of our communities to remain home as much as possible to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

As a result, our library system will be halting all remaining operations beginning on Wednesday, March 25.

Unfortunately, this means that we will have to stop providing you with some services:
• Our popular mail order library will be closed.
•  Our book returns at libraries will be closed. Please do not return any material during this time. All items that are currently checked out will be renewed until May 3t.
  • Our phone lines will not be staffed. Questions can be sent to info@ncrl.org and they will be answered as soon as possible.
•  You will not be able to place holds or make purchase suggestions during this time.
 •  Items that you have on hold will not be sent during this time. They will be available for pickup at our branches or through mail order when we reopen.
In the midst of these unprecedented times, we remain committed to providing you with excellent library service. During this closure, we will be providing:
• Full access to our online resources, including eBooks www.ncrl.org/ebooks, eAudiobooks www.ncrl.org/ebooks, newspapers www.ncrl.org/newsandmagazines and magazines www.ncrl.org/newsandmagazines>, learning resources, and much more www.ncrl.org/online-resources
 •  A new eCard that will allow anyone living in our service area to sign up for a library card online. This card will provide access to our online resources through the end of May.
•  Continued updates, tips, blog posts, and new resources on our website  and social media accounts throughout the closure.
As this pandemic is a constantly evolving situation, we will continue to adjust and respond quickly. At this time, we are not setting a time period for this temporary closure. We will evaluate the situation regularly and make decisions based on current recommendations from public health and government leaders and an ongoing commitment to keeping staff and our communities safe and healthy.
