The Red Lion hotel at 1225 N. Wenatchee Ave., is replaced its massive reception canopy and is also refurbishing the entire hotel, according to Principle Partner Gurbir Sandhu, speaking via email from Kennewick.
The work began in late February and is expected to continue until the end of the year. The canopy work is being done by Peña Brothers Construction Company, based on work trucks at the site.

"The Red Lion Hotel Wenatchee is under going a large renovation to bring it up to date as a premier lodging establishment in Wenatchee Valley. The canopy makeover is only part of the complete makeover the hotel will undergo in 2017," Sandhu said.
 
"The exterior renovation in total will cost about $700,000 including the canopy, new exterior finish and LED lighting conversions. This is part of an extensive renovation of the the hotel that will total approximately $3 million," he said.
 
The canopy is expected to be finished sometime in May. Complete hotel renovations are expected to be complete by the end of 2017, according to Sandhu.
 
Asked if this was part of a nationwide effort orchestrated from company headquarters in Spokane, Sandhu said, "Many Red Lion Hotels have received or are undergoing renovation. The Red Lion Hotel Wenatchee will receive one of the most extensive renovations within the brand," he said.
Sandhu is a franchisee within the brand. He also owns the Red Lion Hotel Columbia Center in Kennewick.
The Pacific Northwest hotel chain also owns and operates: "Hotel RL,
 A new, adventure-driven brand; Red Lion Inn & Suites; GuestHouse, Familiar, comfortable hotels and Settle Inn Extended Stay, Value-focused extended-stay hotels," according to the corporate website
