Farm Bill a big win for NCW ag-industry

President Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill into law towards the end of December. A major accomplishment that gives Central Washington farmers and agriculture producers across the country much-needed certainty and a secure safety net. Learn more about the Farm Bill here.
This legislation is critical for Farm Country, but I would have preferred that the Farm Bill included stronger provisions to improve nutrition programs. That is why I am glad U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue announced a proposed rule intended to move more able-bodied recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to self-sufficiency through the dignity of work. This rule focuses on work-related program requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents between the ages of 18 to 49.
