Bridgeport School Board member, Rich Halterman holds a plaque of appreciation for 20 years of service given to him during the Bridgeport School Board meeting Jan. 30.
Halterman is retiring as the school’s Athletic Director and School Board Member.
Halterman accepted a plaque of appreciation from Bridgeport School Superintendent, Scott Sattler at the beginning of a late January school board meeting.
Halterman served 31 years with the DCSO, the last 19 as senior sergeant supervisor for Douglas County before retiring from that position.
Halterman served on the Bridgeport School Board for six years until work demands at the Sheriff’s office required him to step down from the board.
“Four years later things calmed down enough that I got back on the board and served another 14 years,” Halterman said.
Halterman also served on the Bridgeport City Council for seven years and has been an EMT for the better part of two decades. Along the way Halterman also found time to get involved with Bridgeport school athletics.
